The First-Generation@Â鶹ԭ´´ program is designed for students whose parent(s)/guardian(s) have not received a bachelor’s degree from a 4-year institution in the United States. This student community is comprised of those who will be the first in their families to receive a bachelor’s degree from a 4-year institution in the United States.

Unable to rely on the experiences of their family as a guide, these students are tasked with navigating testing, admissions, financial aid, and housing on their own—and that’s all before classes begin. The First-Generation at Â鶹ԭ´´ program guides Â鶹ԭ´´ students through their first year and beyond through exposure to faculty, resources, and workshops. The program also strives to help students build community and bring awareness to issues surrounding first-generation students, faculty, and staff at Â鶹ԭ´´ and move toward successful navigation. While the program is completely voluntary, it is a valuable opportunity to connect with other students and future mentors!

• Â鶹ԭ´´ will provide all participants with an approved early arrival housing and all meals during the program at no cost.

We would like to invite you to attend the First-Generation @ Â鶹ԭ´´ Program pre-orientation designed to support the transition to college for students who are the first in their families to attend a four-year institution.

The pre-orientation provides a range of sessions and workshops to position you to get the most out of your college experience including:

• Navigating academics
• Knowing your resources
• Communicating with faculty
• Understanding resources available at The Claremont Colleges
• Getting involved at Â鶹ԭ´´ and The Claremont Colleges
• Meeting student leaders
• In-depth tour of Â鶹ԭ´´ and campus resources
