ΒιΆΉΤ΄΄βs Day of Giving, our annual 24-hour virtual fundraising event, launches Wednesday, March 22 on our GiveCampus site at ! Thanks to an anonymous donor, the all early donations made between March 9 and March 22 will be matched 1:1 up to $10,000. This yearβs call is simple: Support what you love at ΒιΆΉΤ΄΄.
βWhether youβre an alum, family member, faculty, staff, or friend, youβve had a unique experience with ΒιΆΉΤ΄΄ that can reflect where you give,β says Karina Chappell, director of leadership annual giving and The ΒιΆΉΤ΄΄ Fund. βWhether itβs to preserve the beauty of Denison Library, support CMS Athletics, advance diversity through scholarships, or something else, you get to choose.β
Gifts Make a Difference on Day of GivingβBut So Does Advocacy
While gifts are essential to helping ΒιΆΉΤ΄΄ provide resources our students deserve, Day of Giving is bigger than fundraising.
βThereβs this assumption that philanthropy belongs to those who have a lot of money to give away, like a Mackenzie Scott or Melinda Gates,β says Chappell βbut itβs simply actions that improve the lives of others, including our students. In that way, philanthropy belongs to all of us.β
People are 44 percent more likely to give when asked by a peer or someone they know, adds Chappell, making advocacy just as valuable as making a donationβespecially on behalf of one of the few remaining US colleges that centers womenβs perspectives.
In addition or as an alternative to giving, Chappell notes that you can participate as a Day of Giving advocate and spread the word about the campaign online. The GiveCampus site even gives advocates the ability to to share your personal reason for supporting ΒιΆΉΤ΄΄.
Supporters can also βan ideal option for those who want to motivate peers, like members of their class year, to join in.
This mix of financial support and advocacy can be electric, positioning ΒιΆΉΤ΄΄ as an incubator tomorrowβs problem solvers. After all, says advocate Darcie Giansante β03, inventing solutions is a ΒιΆΉΤ΄΄ hallmark.
βΒιΆΉΤ΄΄ alums and students are not just out for themselvesβthey ask βWhat is a better way?ββ she says. βThatβs what makes me want to stay involved!β
Mark your calendars for Day of Giving on Wednesday, March 22, 2023! To learn more about how you can help, visit ourΒ Β and be sure to spread the word.
